These deals should really be a wake-up call to politicians and regulators. They are a great example of how well-intentioned regulations can backfire. The net result of the Wall Street research settlement, SARBOX and other protections for small investors has been: small investors now have no access to the most interesting investment opportunities.

So stupid. Too many laws in the US. Just enforce the ones that are in place. Over regulation just hurts the very ones it is intended to protect.

This is excellent. Innovation brought about by freedom: free of price, free of law protection, simply free. In this 21st century, it is a very novel concept. And is so very disruptive. Only those innovators who will and can capitalize on this revolutionary business model of free will survive.

KUDOS TO CANADA! I hope many more countries follow suit and a kudos to other nations that are or have been actionably protecting our planet. It upsets me, like many, that LOTS of life is being lost in the Gulf of Mexico every second that oil pours into the water. The repercussions will reverberate for years to come. It also saddens me that I live in a country that has very little regard for decency — humanity, environmentally, or otherwise. The United States has plenty of rules and more than too many agencies in every regard to American life. Come on, US. We need to step it up. Or loose that which we already have.
