ARTWalk

Tonight I took the entire family out to the annual Pasadena ARTWalk. We started at Pasadena City College where we saw art done in crayon, colored pencil, and pen. Next, we went to City Hall and danced to a live music perforance of 60s music. After a fun dance with my sister and son, we found ourselves at the Asia Pacific Museum where we saw Chinese fashion, sculptures, illustrations, advertising, packaging, paintings, graphic design, photography, and houseware. This was the most interesting stop for me as it was the first time studying Chinese art. Our last stop was Pasadena Museum of California Art. This was everyone’s most favorite location by far! This purse pictured above was part of a bigger exhibit that greeted us at the door. This particular piece was my favorite of all the art we saw tonight. Beads, rhinestones, and feathers….I would so wear this purse! While here, we saw interactive art, product (re)designs, digital art, clothes, shoes, packaging, videos, sketches, paintings, and even landscape architecture.

I am thrilled that the kids were exposed to so many different types art. They also learned how to talk about and interpret art. Walking to dinner, we played a game pointing out art in all the things around us. Their education and exposure to art and design this evening was priceless and cost us nothing but quality family time together. A perfect night!
