The Noughties (2000-2009)

A fantastic piece done by Alan Taylor but these are my favorites, in order.

  1. Slide 27. YouTube became possible when Macromedia Flash (now bought by Adobe) supported video with Flash MX in 2002. BlackTree had been putting video on the Web long before YouTube arrived in 2005 but its creation and our subsequent partnership helped the explosion in growth that BlackTree enjoys today. Also a pioneer in video social media, YouTube had the brand power to attract creators and viewers quickly en masse. They certainly got Google’s attention and made a nice deal: Google’s bandwidth and storage to deliver improved user experiences through HD video, faster downloads, and analytics capabilities; for YouTube’s “in” to the potentially more lucrative video advertising revenues.
  2. Slide 40. I bought the magnet from BarakObama.com marking my first time ever contributing to a political campaign with my OWN money. Now, my President is Black. It should be assumed that he is intelligent also. But unfortunately, the first 8 years of this decade was dictated by haste and uncommon sense. So it has to be said. President Obama is a smart guy.
  3. Slide 20. “Starting in late 2003, astronomers pointed [the] Hubble [microscope] at a tiny, relatively empty part of our sky (only a few stars from the Milky Way [where we are on Earth] visible). … The result is this amazing image [of some 10,000] galaxies that range from 1 to 13 billion light-years away from Earth… in this tiny patch of sky…” That is simply incredible. THINK about that. It does remind me so much of the majesty of God. Awesome.
