Lewis Hamilton (shown here with girlfriend and PCD lead Nicole Scherzinger) is the first and only Black (mixed) Formula One competitor ever. He’s also on track to win tonight at the finals after pulling in first during last nights quarter finals. I came to the Grand Prix not knowing much about the sport let alone who I’d be cheering on but it didn’t take long for me to find the one. “At the age of ten Hamilton approached the McLaren team principal, Ron Dennis, at the 1995 Autosport Awards ceremony and told him “‘I want to race for you one day.’” Less than three years later, he was signed by McLaren and Mercedes-Benz to their Young Driver Support Programme” (via). How’s that for having a plan and sticking to it. Here’s to hoping my pick wins tonight.
